Herniorrafia perineal utilizando tela de polipropileno cônica em cães
Perineal hernia is a consequence of muscular fragility of the pelvic diaphragm, which leads to the protrusion of abdominal and pelvic structures. It occurs mainly in male, elderly and unneutered dogs. Three dogs, male, mixed breed, over ten years old were treated at the Barão de Mauá Veterinary Hospital, located in the city of Ribeirão Preto-SP, both showed clinical signs compatible with perineal hernia with fragility of the pelvic diaphragm. The definitive diagnosis was made through ultrasound examination, being transmitted to organs as hernial contents. The treatment performed was herniorrhaphy with conical-shaped polypropylene mesh, which proved to be efficient in all cases. Therefore, this work aimed to report three cases of perineal hernia in dogs, describing their clinical signs, diagnosis and treatment carried out due to muscle deficiency
