Acute psychische deterioratie als presentatie van Anti-NMDA receptor encefalitis: een tweesporenbeleid
Acute Psychological Deterioration – What’s Your Emergency A 13-year-old patient, presented multiple times to the emergency department with episodes of convulsions and clinically apathetic behavioral features with initial biochemical and radiographic elaboration without significant results. Several diagnostic and therapeutic options were taken on record. Anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis is a rare autoimmune disease that can present as acute psychiatric syndrome with neurologic manifestations, which if untreated can lead to mortality. Treatment provided immunosuppressants leads to proven favorable long-term outcome. Persistent thoughtfulness, a broad differential diagnostic view and multidisciplinary approach should be used already in the emergency department to prevent a prolonged delay of institutional treatment.
