Assessing the success of Education 4.0 in enhancing English proficiency for engineering students in Bangladesh

As the global educational landscape undergoes rapid transformation, “Education 4.0” emerges as a cutting-edge paradigm that harnesses advanced technologies to revolutionize the learning process. This study investigates the impact of Education 4.0 on improving English proficiency among engineering students in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Using a quantitative research design, pre- and post-tests were conducted alongside surveys administered to 511 students from different engineering disciplines. Stratified random sampling was used to ensure diversity in the sample. The results showed significant improvement in key language skills, such as vocabulary, writing, and speaking. Education 4.0 tools—including online forums, chat rooms, and mobile applications—proved instrumental in boosting learning outcomes. Statistical analysis, specifically paired t-tests, demonstrated a statistically significant positive effect on English learning outcomes (p = 0.0196). This study addresses a gap in existing literature by focusing on engineering students in an urban Bangladeshi setting, providing empirical evidence that supports the integration of Education 4.0 technologies in language learning. The findings suggest that these tools enhance student engagement and accessibility, making the learning process more effective than traditional methods. Given the positive feedback from students, this research emphasizes the importance of adopting Education 4.0 innovations, particularly in developing countries. It also advocates for the broader implementation of these tools in educational frameworks to bridge gaps and improve language acquisition. Future studies should consider exploring the long-term impact of these technologies in various educational contexts, particularly in underrepresented socio-economic settings.
