O42: Genomic education in medicine (GEM): An online curriculum available to all

Introduction:The field of clinical genetics is inundated with a vast array of online resources, tools, and databases that are often scattered and difficult to find without specific prior knowledge of their existence. This fragmentation poses a significant challenge for clinical geneticists and rare disease researchers who would benefit from quick and efficient access to reliable information. To address this need, we recognized the necessity for a comprehensive, organized platform that consolidates these essential resources and created an online repository for clinical genetics. Methods: We developed a new and updated version of ClinGenRecs, an online repository that systematically categorizes and compiles over 200 clinical genetics resources. The website was written in the R programming language using R Markdown and published on Netlify. The platform is now updated biannually to ensure the inclusion of the latest tools and databases.By meticulously curating resources related to acute and long-term management, dysmorphology, genetic databases, genome browsers, genotype-to-phenotype correlations, nomenclature, ontologies, and phenotype-to-genotype analysis, we structured the platform to enhance usability and accessibility for professionals in the field. The redesign of website categories was informed by community feedback gathered through an integrated survey, allowing for easier navigation and an improved user experience. Results: The revamped ClinGenRecs platform now hosts over 200 curated resources, uniquely organized to cater specifically to the needs of clinical geneticists and rare disease researchers. The biannual updates have incorporated numerous new submissions, many of which originated from community feedback via the integrated survey. The redesigned categories facilitate easier navigation, enabling users to quickly locate and access the resources they need. The inclusion of these new categories and the integration of the latest tools-most of which are not collectively available on any other clinical genetics resource website-provide users with a centralized, one-stop repository for their clinical and research endeavors. Conclusion: This updated version of ClinGenRecs continues to fill a critical gap in the clinical genetics landscape by offering a singular, comprehensive platform that streamlines access to over 200 valuable resources. The biannual updates and incorporation of community feedback ensure that the platform remains current and responsive to the needs of its users. Its unique organization and breadth of content are designed not only to enhance research efficiency and clinical decision-making but also to make a specific, previously unmet contribution to improved patient care in the realm of rare diseases and genetic disorders. No other website currently offers such a consolidated and targeted resource, positioning ClinGenRecs as a continued valuable tool for the genetics community.
