O57: Association of polygenic risk scores with disease prevalence in pediatrics: Insights into obesity, asthma, type 1 and type 2 diabetes

Polygenic risk scores (PRS) quantify genetic susceptibility to disease by aggregating the effects of multiple genetic variants. Although PRS has been applied to predict disease risk in adults, its association with disease prevalence in pediatric populations is underexplored. Studying PRS associations with common pediatric conditions such as obesity, asthma, type 1 diabetes (T1D), and type 2 diabetes (T2D) could enhance opportunities for early risk identification and targeted interventions.

Abstract

Polygenic risk scores (PRS) quantify genetic susceptibility to disease by aggregating the effects of multiple genetic variants. Although PRS has been applied to predict disease risk in adults, its association with disease prevalence in pediatric populations is underexplored. Studying PRS associations with common pediatric conditions such as obesity, asthma, type 1 diabetes (T1D), and type 2 diabetes (T2D) could enhance opportunities for early risk identification and targeted interventions.
