Analysis of current trends of global network retail
The article is devoted to analyzing modern trends in global network retail. A review of scientific works examining retail development trends has been conducted. The study analyzed the TOP-20 global retailers, identifying changes in their total revenue and rankings for 2022–2024. Despite maintaining its leadership position since 2003, Walmart faces increasing competition from giants such as Amazon, Schwarz Group, Aldi, and Costco, which are actively expanding their global market presence. It has been determined that over the past three years, retail has undergone a large-scale transformation. Consumer behavior changes driven by the COVID-19 pandemic have significantly accelerated the use of online shopping platforms. The development of e-commerce, social media, and entertainment platforms greatly influences consumer preferences and shapes new shopping behavior models. It was outlined that the continuous growth and development of global retail networks, accompanied by the implementation of innovative technologies and an expansion of service offerings, leads to increased market competition. This forces global network retailers to constantly seek new ways to attract customers, develop new store formats, and adapt their business models to new conditions. The pressure from global networks on national retail chains is particularly noticeable, requiring them to continuously evolve to remain competitive. It was noted that in modern conditions, it is not enough for major networks to simply exist-they must constantly develop, adapt to new trends, and quickly respond to market changes. To achieve this, businesses must be flexible and utilize modern IT solutions. It was established that global trends dictate new rules for retail: the growth of e-commerce, omnichannel strategies, high supply chain efficiency, social responsibility, sustainability, deeper digitalization, and the use of artificial intelligence and AR/VR technologies. These factors are becoming essential for business success.
