A New Genre of Content Creation: Combining Mixed Reality Technology and Handicraft
This study proposes a new content creation approach that combines mixed reality (MR) technology and handicrafts to foster children’s creativity. We developed a mixed reality platform featuring a real aquarium, where users can create 2D virtual objects by touch on the aquarium’s front glass, which are then automatically transformed into corresponding 3D objects. Additionally, users can materialize these virtual objects through handicrafts or 3D printing, turning them into real, tactile creations. By adding sensor modules, these creations can be further transformed into functional interactive tools. This method encourages creativity and can be applied in various scenarios, such as curriculum learning, science education, and rehabilitation therapy, enhancing children’s creative development.
