Frequency Risk Assessment Method Based on Chronological Production Simulation
The frequency risk assessment is critical in addressing power system scheduling challenges associated with the high penetration of renewable energy sources due to its inherently nonlinear characteristics. In this study, a novel frequency risk assessment was proposed, explicitly accounting for the heterogeneous governor models of thermal and hydro units and HVDC transmission. Based on the chronological production simulation for Yunnan Province, an ASF model of Yunnan’s power system was established. A single pole blocking fault of PuQiao LCC-HVDC was simulated to observe the system’s frequency variations under different conditions. This approach provides clear and intuitive results for assessing the renewable energy hosting capacity, offering strong support for the operation of the actual power system.
