Defects Diagnosis for Submarine Cable Body and Accessory Based on High Voltage Frequency Domain Dielectric Parameters

Submarine cables and their accessories are under special stress and often adopt enclosed structures. So once fault occurs, specific detection and diagnosis are difficult. This article proposes a non-destructive detection method and process based on high-voltage frequency domain spectroscopy (FDS) for typical defects in submarine cable bodies and their accessories. Especially, 10 parameters such as layering degree, slope, and slope consistency of the high-voltage FDS have been extracted, and identification criteria and diagnostic methods for different types of cable joints and body defects have been proposed. The proposed method can effectively identify different types of submarine cable defects.
