Low-power packet sparse symbol coding for backscatter communication systems
The backscatter communication technology has opened the door for the development of passive IoT terminals. However, the energy constraints in passive terminal nodes limit the use of complex algorithms. A crucial issue is how to apply lightweight and low-complexity encoding techniques to enhance system reliability. This paper addresses this problem by designing a low-power packet sparse symbol encoding scheme, based on the fundamentals of backscatter communication. The proposed method focuses on reducing computational complexity and the frequency of symbol flips. It achieves this by grouping symbols into 8-bit packets and modifying the original sequence by inserting identical symbols, resulting in a 25-bit sparse symbol structure that reduces symbol flipping and incorporates error detection capabilities, Compared with traditional channel coding, the frequency of symbol flipping per bit can be reduced by more than half.
