Development of Single Pulse Power Supply Based on Three-Level GDT Topology
This paper developed a single pulse power supply using a three-Level gas discharge tube (GDT) circuit. The main circuit of the pulse power supply consists of a high-voltage power supply peripheral circuit, a 3-Level GDT topology circuit, and a drive control circuit. In order to avoid the problem of high cost and difficult control of common high voltage switches, a low cost three-level GDT switch topology is adopted, the device meets the requirements of adjustable voltage output peak from 4500 to 5500V and pulse rise time within 2μS under the design specifications, verifying the application value of the three-Level GDT topology. In addition, through theoretical analysis and practical measurements, the factors affecting the pulse parameters in the pulse main circuit were discussed, and the circuit structure and parameters were optimized. This pulse power supply can not only be used as an initiating device for impact plate detonators, but also as a laboratory excitation pulse source for experimental research in strong EMP environments.
