A Study of Mapping Mechanism Based on Voltage/Current of Flexible Node and Impedance Models of Grid-Forming/Grid-Following Converters

Although there has been a lot of research for the traditional power system, and got a lot of effective stability analysis methods and instability mechanism because of the importance of power system stability in the power system, with energy change and power electronics development, traditional stability theory which instability identification is for a single inverter grid connection is not readily applicable to contemporary power systems, which are characterized by high proportions of renewable energy and extensive use of power electronic equipment. Therefore, in order to address this issue, Firstly, This paper constructs the dynamic impedance model coexist with grid-following and grid-forming converters, uses impedance analysis comprehensively analysis the dynamic impedance variations. Then, through the further study of the mapping mechanism of the flexible node voltage/current and the impedance model of the grid-forming/grid-following converter. Finally, this paper investigates the destabilization mechanism of the new type of power system.

Abstract

Although there has been a lot of research for the traditional power system, and got a lot of effective stability analysis methods and instability mechanism because of the importance of power system stability in the power system, with energy change and power electronics development, traditional stability theory which instability identification is for a single inverter grid connection is not readily applicable to contemporary power systems, which are characterized by high proportions of renewable energy and extensive use of power electronic equipment. Then, through the further study of the mapping mechanism of the flexible node voltage/current and the impedance model of the grid-forming/grid-following converter. Finally, this paper investigates the destabilization mechanism of the new type of power system.
