A one-pot synthesized dual-emission MOFs-based ratiometric fluorescent sensor for hypersensitive and portable detection of griseofulvin

Griseofulvin (GRF) is a non-polyene antifungal antibiotic commonly used in agriculture for fungal disease control. Improper exposure to GRF can pose significant health risks to human. Despite its widespread use, there is a lack of simple, low-cost, highly selective and sensitive methods for the detection of GRF. In this regard, a fluorescent and colorimetric sensor was developed through a one pot reaction by encapsulating vitamin B 2 (VB 2 ) in a metal organic framework material UiO-66-NH 2 . In the presence of GRF, the fluorescence intensity at 435 nm increased, while the fluorescence intensity at 520 nm decreased, resulting in a ratiometric fluorescence change. And the ratio of fluorescence intensities at these two wavelengths exhibited a strong linear relationship with GRF concentration. The UiO-66-NH 2 @VB 2 showed excellent GRF response with high selectivity , low LOD (27.17 nM) and quick response time (less than 1 min), and was successfully applied to detect GRF in real samples of ambient water and milk with good recoveries. Furthermore, a paper-based sensor of UiO-66-NH 2 @VB 2 was fabricated for GRF detection under UV light , and the RGB color change could be recognized by a smartphone. This simple and efficient method allows for on-site, rapid, and quantitative detection of GRF in ambient water and milk, demonstrating its promising application for GRF detection in food safety and environmental monitoring. • A novel dual-emission MOFs was successfully prepared through one-pot reaction. • This is the first report of ratiometric sensor for GRF detection in real samples. • UiO-66-NH 2 @VB 2 detected GRF quantitatively with high selectivity and sensitivity. • The portable GRF detection was achieved using paper-based sensor with a smartphone. • The mechanism of the UiO-66-NH 2 @VB 2 sensor for GRF detection was explored.
