Testicular torsion in children: A series of seven cases
Abstract Testicular torsion (TT) is the rotation of the testis to the longitudinal axis of the spermatic cord, which impedes testicular blood supply. Haemorrhagic infarction of the testis starts 2 h after the torsion; irreversible vascular injury appears 6 h later and complete infarction starts 24 h later. Clinically suspected cases often pose a diagnostic dilemma since colour Doppler ultrasonography cannot yield a precise and conclusive diagnosis. In this case series, we share our experiences with various forms of TT and re-evaluate the critical presentations, clinical and radiology findings and tests to improve the diagnosis and treatment.
