Fast quasi-adiabatic 3 dB power splitter on thin-film lithium niobate

A compact and broadband 3 dB power splitter using a fast quasi-adiabatic (FAQUAD) approach is proposed on the thin-film lithium niobate platform. The FAQUAD approach effectively speeds up the adiabatic mode evolution process by homogeneously distributing adiabaticity over the device length. The simulation results exhibit that a short 28.6 μm-long FAQUAD power splitter can support a bandwidth of 100 nm with a 3 ± 0.55 dB power splitting ratio.

Abstract

A compact and broadband 3 dB power splitter using a fast quasi-adiabatic (FAQUAD) approach is proposed on the thin-film lithium niobate platform. The FAQUAD approach effectively speeds up the adiabatic mode evolution process by homogeneously distributing adiabaticity over the device length. The simulation results exhibit that a short 28.6 μm-long FAQUAD power splitter can support a bandwidth of 100 nm with a 3 ± 0.55 dB power splitting ratio.
