Development of a Novel Mixed-Powder Powder Metallurgy (MPM) Process
In the traditional powder metallurgy (PM) process, metal powders typically exhibit coarseness, with mean particle sizes around 100 μm and irregular shapes. These powder characteristics lead to the formation of large pores in the green compact after the pressing process. Combined with the low sintering driving force of the coarse powder, this results in low density after sintering. To address these issues, we developed a novel Mixed-Powder Powder Metallurgy (MPM) process by adding fine powders into coarse powders.
