Design of a multidimensional information perception panoramic imaging system without a central blind area and front lens group

This study presents a triple-channel panoramic imaging system without a central blind area based on bandpass filter and polarization technology, which can achieve the acquisition of dual-band and dual-polarization information. Compared to other multi-channel panoramic imaging systems without a central blind area, this design eliminates the front lens group, resulting in a significant reduction in assembly complexity and achieving overall aesthetic harmony of the product. The field of view (FOV) of the main, side, and front channels are 360∘×(60∘-96∘), 360∘×(22∘-60∘), and 360∘×(0∘-13∘), respectively. With an <i>f</i>-number of 2.5 and a maximum F-theta distortion of 7.48%, the system presents excellent image quality, good thermal stability, and a loose tolerance requirement. For all three channels, the modulation transfer function (MTF) at 172 lp/mm is greater than 0.309, and the maximum root mean square (RMS) spot radii is 2.538 µm. Our proposal offers a promising way for a panoramic imaging system to remove the front lens group and perceive high-quality multidimensional information.
