Improving the Assessment of Capstone Projects in the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering
The Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering at University Jaume I has a capstone project in which the student develops, during a 300-hour internship in an enterprise, a real-world project. We collected data for five academic years to analyze the assessment process to propose a new hybrid model, which combines analytic and holistic assessment and takes into account all the factors that influence the evaluation. As a result, a comprehensive assessment model for capstone projects is proposed, incorporating five key dimensions derived from an in-depth analysis of the collected data: the students’ competency performance, the quality of the project proposal, the quality of advising, the panel involved in the assessment process, and the assessment criteria used for project evaluation.
