STRENGTHENING THE INTEGRITY OF THE NOTARY POSITION FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF ISLAMIC ETHICS

This research aims to integrate the ethical principles and responsibilities derived from Islamic teachings, particularly as reflected in QS An-Nisa/4:58-59 and QS Al-Ma'idah/5:1, into the notarial profession in Indonesia. The primary goal is to strengthen the legitimacy, integrity, and public trust in the notarial profession, as well as to optimize the role of notaries as agents of positive change within the legal system through the creation of valid and fair deeds. This study uses a normative method with a library research approach, analyzing Qur'anic verses and related literature on Islamic ethics, law, and notarial practice. The findings show that Islamic principles such as justice, trustworthiness, and transparency are highly relevant and effective in enhancing notarial professional integrity, preventing abuses of authority, and ensuring fairness in legal transactions. The integration of Islamic ethical principles in notarial practice can promote the establishment of a legal system that is more transparent, just, and oriented toward the welfare of society. This ethics research emphasizes the importance of Islamic education for notaries and the strengthening of oversight systems based on moral values. By applying these principles, notaries can play a more significant role in creating a legal system that is fairer and more ethical, thereby increasing public trust in the profession. The results of this research are expected to serve as a foundation for ethical reforms in the notarial profession and contribute to the improvement of the legal system in Indonesia.
