Analysis of the competitiveness of persimmon export in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan is one of the leading countries in persimmon production and export. Persimmons are one of the main agricultural products exported by the country. The study covers the period from 2014 to 2023. Compared to 2014, by 2023, the country has received more than twice the amount of foreign currency from persimmons exports. The increase in persimmon exports has turned it into one of the key products of the non-oil sector. The growing number of persimmon orchards each year contributes to increased production and further growth in export volumes. During the period in question, diversification in the types of exports of the country is evident. The study will use the Balassa and Vollrath indices to calculate whether date exports have a revealed comparative advantage and whether they are competitive. The calculations will utilize the revealed comparative advantage index, the relative export advantage index, the relative import advantage index, the relative trade advantage index, and the relealed competitiveness index.
