A rare case of conservatively managed congenital chylothorax presenting as hydrops fetalis
We report a term female neonate with non-immune hydrops fetalis with bilateral pleural effusion diagnosed as congenital chylothorax. Bilateral chest tube drainage is done and the neonate is successfully managed with measures including mechanical ventilation, medium chain triglyceride milk-based diet, and injection octreotide. A detailed course in the neonatal intensive care unit with a literature review on the management of congenital chylothorax has been included.
