Rettung der Reliquien

Abstract This contribution concerns the early modern document The Holy Breadbasket. Of the Sacred Roman Relics or the Venerable Pieces of Holiness . Written by Jean Calvin and translated by Jakob Eisenberg, it was probably published by Johann Fischart. The largely unnoticed text is discussed in the context of Fischart’s publications of confessional polemics and its satirical approach is explained. An examination of paratexts allows for the conclusion that Johann Fischart can be named as the most probable publisher.
