MUTATIONS ASSOCIATED WITH RESISTANCE TO RIFAMPICIN AND ISONIAZID IN Mycobacterium tuberculosis STRAINS
Objective: to study the spectrum of mutations associated with Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) resistance to rifampicin (R) and isoniazid (H). Materials and methods. We studied 794 MTB DNA specimens obtained from 794 pulmonary TB patients on treatment in the Mari El Republic. Results. We established that in both multidrug-resistant and polyresistant TB patients typical mutations associated with resistance to R were those in codon 531 of the rpoB gene with Ser-Leu replacement and typical mutations associated with resistance to H were those in codon 315 of the katG gene with Ser-Thr1 replacement.
