Repräsentationen in der Stadt und im „globalen Dorf” aus der semiotischen Perspektive

The aim of this article is to compare the semiotic representation mechanisms in the analog space of a modern city and in the digital space of the Internet. Despite the undeniable differences between these ‘spaces’, the article is based on the assumption that the mechanisms of representation used in them have also many parallels. The analysis addresses two of them: the 'high resolution' and visual pollution, both related to the concept of transparency of images, and both having a crucial influence on the way of perception of visual signs.
