The results of a study of the effectiveness of bulk catalytic converters of exhaust gases to improve the environmental performance of diesel engines
To improve environmental safety in the agricultural sector and reduce the harmful effects of diesel engine emissions, the installation of exhaust gas catalytic converters is recommended for the existing tractor fleet. The study is devoted to solving an urgent problem – minimizing the negative impact of emissions into the atmosphere and improving the purification of exhaust gases in catalytic converters of diesel engines. In this regard, studies have been conducted on the use of catalytic converters with a bulk layer of catalytic material of various designs installed on mobile machines. The best performance indicators in reducing emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and carbon monoxide (CO) were demonstrated by the following samples: palladium ball catalyst SHPK-0.5 with a bulk structure, granular copper chromium acid catalyst Azineftekhim-670 and porous permeable catalyst obtained by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) technology. To improve the catalytic purification and improve the environmental performance of diesel engines, it is recommended to use combined purification systems, including catalytic converters and particulate filters, the creation of structures to prevent the abrasion of catalyst carriers and their removal with exhaust gases from neutralization reactors, the use of metal-ceramic materials as catalysts, including those obtained by SHS technology.
