Nonspecific vaginal infections of mixed etiology in women of reproductive age: features of the microbial landscape and results of topical combination therapy
Aim. To analyze the data of clinical and laboratory studies and the results of local therapy of vaginal infections of mixed etiology in women of reproductive age with a fixed combomation of clotrimazole and metronidazole gel. Material and methods. Data from medical records and microbiological research data for 2024 was analyzed in a retrospective study. Patients with non-specific vaginal mixed infections received topical therapy with clotrimazole+metronidazole gel (n=35). The duration of follow-up of patients, according to outpatient records, was 3 weeks.Results. Сlinical symptoms and laboratory parameters completely regressed, pH of vaginal secretions decreased to 3.9±0.7 (p=0.016), aminotest was negative in 35 (100%) patients by the end of local therapy with vaginal gel (clotrimazole+metronidazole). After treatment, microbiological eradication was achieved in all 35 (100%) patients, while eradication of fungal-bacterial associations of C. albicans and Gardnerella spp. was achieved in 27 (77.2%). No serious side effects have been reported. Conclusion. Local therapy with a fixed combination of clotrimazole and metronidazole gel was effective and safe, clinical and laboratory treatment occurred in all 35 patients (100%).
