Selecting texts for a Corpus of Early Modern Icelandic (CEMI)

This article highlights the textual aspect of a new project aimed at digitizing Early Modern Icelandic texts (1540–1850) and creating a comprehensive text corpus for linguistic and historical research. We focus on the textual material, identifying and choosing certain key works to form the basic structure of the project. We discuss three different text types that need to be processed differently to be integrated into the corpus and mention caveats and problematic issues. Finally there are some concluding remarks.
