Tailoring Er 3+ doped ZnTiO 3 ceramic surfaces for high color purity green-emitting display device applications
In the present study, we have reported the photoluminescence investigation of Er 3+ doped ZnTiO3 ceramics prepared using a planetary ball mill and solid state reaction method. The prepared phosphors have been optically investigated using a 980 nm continuous laser wave diode excitation source. The recorded spectra of upconversion (UC) emission and optical pump power dependance are in the range of 300 nm to 900 nm wavelength region. We have observed four UC peaks ∼524 nm, ∼549 nm, ∼655 nm and ∼798 nm corresponding to the 2 H11/2→ 4 I15/2, 4 S3/2→ 4 I15/2, 4 F9/2→ 4 I15/2 and 4 I9/2→ 4 I15/2 transitions of Er 3+ ion respectively. An energy level diagram for the emission spectra of the Er 3+ ions has been shown. Using the Commission Internationale de I ’ Elcairage (CIE) chromaticity diagram color coordinates of the prepared phosphors are estimated and the coordinates are observed in the green region with high color purity. Based on this investigation, the prepared ceramics can be utilized as green emitting display device applications.
