Analysis of the epidemiological situation on tuberculosis in Khabarovsk Krai in 2010–2023

Abstract The relevance of the problem is due to the persistent tense situation with tuberculosis in Russia, the Far Eastern Federal District and Khabarovsk Krai, despite the successes achieved over the past decade. To a large extent, this is due to the increasing primary multiple and extensive drug resistance (MDR and XDR) and the combination of tuberculosis and HIV infection. The aim of this study was to analyze the epidemiological situation with tuberculosis in Khabarovsk Krai from 2019 to 2023 and identify problem areas. Material and methods. The research used the methods of comparative analysis and content analysis. The source of information was the statistical data collections prepared by specialists of the Novosibirsk Research Institute of Tuberculosis of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation in 2023 and 2024, "The Main Indicators of Anti-Tuberculosis Activity in the Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts (Statistical Materials)", statistical materials published by the Medical Information and Analytical Center of the Ministry of Health of the Khabarovsk Krai for 2019-2023, as well as the results of scientific research published in scientific journals and the Internet. Results and discussion. In the Khabarovsk Krai, despite the successes achieved in recent years, the incidence, prevalence and mortality rates from tuberculosis are recorded at a level higher than in Russia. The region maintains a high proportion of newly diagnosed tuberculosis with decay and bacterial excretion, the proportion of newly diagnosed patients with primary MDR and XDR is increasing, every fifth patient with MDR is not committed to treatment. The proportion of patients with fibro-cavernous tuberculosis is increasing, and a high proportion of patients who died from tuberculosis before 1 year of observation remains. In 2022, in the post-COVID period, tuberculosis incidence and mortality increased. Against this background, the incidence of tuberculosis in children and adolescents has increased. Conclusion. The results obtained allow us to assess the epidemiological situation for tuberculosis in the region as unfavorable. The main areas for improving the anti-tuberculosis service of the region include increasing the efficiency of organizing early detection of tuberculosis among residents of the region, including those at risk, among children and adolescents, as well as developing adherence to tuberculosis treatment in patients, especially in people with MDR and XDR.
