Analysis of ferro‐geopolymer panels reinforced with different type of fibers
Abstract The increasing demand for durable and sustainable alternatives to conventional concrete has driven the development of ferro‐geopolymer (FG) panels—an innovative material celebrated for its eco‐friendliness, exceptional durability, and strong compressive strength. This study investigates the behavior of FG panels under impact loading, focusing on the first and ultimate crack responses, energy absorption, and crack resistance. Four reinforcement scenarios were examined: panels without fibers, with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fibers, with steel fibers, and with a hybrid combination of both fibers. Using a drop‐weight impact test, the research quantified key parameters such as crack initiation and propagation, energy absorption, and overall impact resistance. Results reveal significant differences in performance based on fiber type. Hybrid fiber‐reinforced panels demonstrated superior crack resistance and energy absorption, with PVA fibers improving ductility and initial crack resistance, while steel fibers enhanced tensile strength and resistance to crack propagation. The synergy of hybrid reinforcement underscores its potential as a resilient and sustainable construction material, paving the way for advanced applications in eco‐friendly building technologies.
