Stay abreast of regulatory changes initiated by second Trump administration, new Congress

With campaign rhetoric now in the rear‐view mirror, higher education administrators are assessing the impact of the change in executive branch leadership and a new Congress resulting from the November 2024 election. To some degree, we’re all trying to read the tea leaves to assess where changes will be most significant. Ultimately, administrators will need to stay tuned to initiatives making their way through the federal government, through federal regulatory developments, executive branch nonregulatory guidance, and legislative action. At the same time, administrators must keep in mind that state laws will impact some of the legal obligations and constraints applicable to institutions of higher education.
