Localization of fields interacting through a gauge mechanism in thick brane models
The localization of fields on the brane is a crucial issue in the braneworld scenario. In this context, known four-dimensional field theories must be derivable from higher-dimensional field theories. We investigate the localization of interacting fields within the framework of the scalar thick brane model. The fields under consideration include scalar, vector and spinor fields, each interacting with a vector field. The brane models studied are the scalar thick brane with a superpotential [Formula: see text] and the sine-Gordon brane. First, the localization of the scalar-vector field system is analyzed. Based on the localization conditions, it is shown that the massless scalar field can be localized on the brane for both models. However, the massive scalar field exhibits oscillatory behavior along the extra dimension in both cases. Second, the localization of the self-interacting (non-Abelian) vector field is considered. It is found that the massless non-Abelian vector field can be localized on the brane in both models. Third, the localization of the spinor-vector field system is examined. The results indicate that the spinor field interacting with the gauge field is not localized on the brane, in a manner consistent with the localization behavior of the spinor field in the absence of Yukawa interaction term.
