Local wisdom in the landslide disaster management cycle in Tawangmangu District

Abstract Tawangmangu District is one of the areas with a high level of landslide danger, and local wisdom is utilized to overcome it. This research is qualitative, conducted through in-depth interviews and documentation studies using data collection techniques. This study found that most of Tawangmangu’s area, 8,346 hectares, has high landslide potential. Communities carry out disaster management by utilizing previously established local wisdom. In the pre-disaster phase, the community carries out the Rasulan, Mondosiyo, Dukutan, and Julungan ceremonies on certain days, which are believed to bring safety. In the emergency response phase or when a disaster occurs, the local wisdom that is carried out is to provide housing for the affected community. As a post-landslide disaster recovery, the community’s local wisdom is to work together to clean up materials that disrupt community activities.
