Effect of two-order composite texture surface on frictional characteristics and wear mechanisms of slipper pairs by CF/PEEK-316L in seawater medium

To reduce the wear of the slipper pair of axial piston pump in seawater medium, a multi-level composite texture was designed by imitating the surface structure of natural organisms, and friction and wear experiments were carried out using CF/PEEK and 316L stainless steel. The frictional characteristics of different surface sizes were analyzed by the friction coefficient and temperature curves obtained from the test. The wear mechanisms were analyzed by observing the surface morphology and surface composition after the test. Interesting phenomena and mechanisms were found that the Toccp (two-order composite cone pits) surface exhibited a better friction performance, with a friction coefficient 327.8%, and 50% lower than that of the smooth surface and Oocp (one-order cone pits) surface respectively and the friction temperature 53.8% and 14.6% lower. The first-order depth had a greater influence on the friction and wear properties.
