How can instinct be the "basic concept of transcendental teleology"? An exploration of Husserl's concept of "transcendental instinct"
Late in his work, Husserl attempted to define the concept of instinct in a transcendental sense as "proto-intentionality" and "the basic concept of transcendental teleology", and to reconstruct the entire transcendental phenomenological system from the perspective of transcendental instinct, which also made the rationalised world picture he depicted more dynamic. The basic concept of transcendental teleology—transcendental instinct—is the first level of the development of intentionality, and it lays the foundation for all forms of intentionality structurally. Transcendental instinct means the constant striving for intuitive-fulfilment. A complete description of transcendental instinct will show that it unifies multiple dimensions of body, objectification, and non-objectification, which can accommodate the interweaving and nesting of various special instinctive horizons, thus able to comprehensively unify various special instincts.
