Application of the Balint group model in a new nurse group

Using the Balint group model, eight sessions were conducted with thirty new nurses who had been working for one year in a tertiary-level hospital in China. It presents the various situations encountered by new nurses in their daily work, the empathy of group members, and the group's handling of negative emotions. This article presents the process of the eight group activities, analyses the events that occurred in the group from a dynamic perspective, and discusses the role issues of the group members. Finally, the researcher assessed the anxiety, depression levels, and psychological resilience of the group members before and after the intervention, and found that the differences were not statistically significant. In response to this result, the researcher conducted a dynamic discussion from the perspective of defence mechanisms.
