461 Differences in Baseline Beta-Band Power in the Human Amygdala in the Presence of Uncertainty During an Arm Reaching Task
INTRODUCTION: A body of evidence has defined the role of the amygdala in processing of emotional and fearful stimuli; however, recent evidence suggests a role in motor processing as well. We have shown previously that baseline beta-band (13–30Hz) power in the hippocampus is different between the Direct Reach(DR) and Go/No-Go(GNG) tasks, which indicates that beta-band power is influenced by movement uncertainty. METHODS: Local field potentials (LFPs) were recorded from stereoelectroencephalogram (SEEG) contacts in the amygdala in 14 participants during the DR and GNG tasks. Baseline spectral beta-band power was computed, and a cluster-based non-parametric permutation test was used to compare baseline beta-band power in the DR and GNG tasks (p < 0.05). RESULTS: Thirteen of 14 (92.9%) showed statistically significant differences in baseline beta-band power between the DR and GNG tasks. CONCLUSIONS: Consistent with our results in the hippocampus, movement uncertainty was associated with differences in baseline beta-band power in the amygdala.
