ANALYZING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TAXATION, SUBSIDIES, SMEs EXPANSION AND GREEN TECHNOLOGIES GROWTH
This study analyzes how tax revenues, the number of SMEs, and subsidies impact the import patterns of green energy technologies in 15 developing Asian economies from 2000 to 2019. The results indicate a significant negative relationship, revealing that a 1% increase in total tax revenues is associated with a decline of over 0.43% in green energy technology imports. Conversely, subsidies have a positive effect, with a 1% increase resulting in a 0.21% rise in these imports. Additionally, the findings confirm that policies promoting SME expansion boost green energy technology imports by 0.22%. Overall, the results underscore the essential roles of income levels and the number of internet users in driving imports, while highlighting significant challenges posed by income inequality and electricity consumption. In terms of practical implications, the study stresses the need for effective fiscal strategies, including green taxation, subsidies and investments in renewable energy generation.
