MPC-Based Fault-Tolerant Control of Dual Three-Phase PMSM with Maximized Torque Efficiency Under Open-Phase Fault

Optimizing the performance of dual three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (DTP-PMSM) drives under open-phase fault conditions can significantly enhance their fault tolerance and efficiency. To address this, we propose a model predictive control (MPC)-based control scheme utilizing particle swarm optimization (PSO) for fine-tuning the proportional-integral (PI) controller parameters ($K_{P}$ and $K_{I}$) and flux constant. The key innovation is the usage of particle swarm optimization (PSO) to search for the global optimal current references without imposing unnecessary restrictions such as sinusoidal current patterns. This approach not only improves the theoretical maximum torque output capability but also minimizes copper losses. Simulation results confirm the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method, demonstrating an efficiency improvement from the current 74.7% under Phase-A open conditions.
