Designing a Flexible, Low-Waste System for Hand-Sampling with Conductive Warp Yarns
Traditional conductive yarns are prone to fraying and breakage, making them difficult to hand-weave in the warp without extensive sampling. This paper presents two iterations of a flexible sampling system using bobbin-based tensioning approaches. By utilizing traditional textile components, multiple conductive yarns may be tested in parallel with minimal material waste. The results demonstrate that such systems provides an efficient, sustainable approach to e-textile prototyping, enhancing both material conservation and adaptability in conductive yarn testing in hand-weaving.
