En-Garde Innovation: Advancing Epee Fencing with E-Textile Conductive Ribbons
This research aims to improve fencing body wires by using conductive textile ribbons for enhanced comfort, durability, and weight reduction. Fencing requires precise electronic hit recognition, with the system parts being particularly demanding due to mechanical stress and humidity. The study focused on developing a connection between epee plugs and textile ribbons, testing hit recognition, and assessing durability through bend-to-break cycle tests. The textile ribbon showed great potential for superior performance under these conditions.
