Design of weight function for using response level in active vibration control of elevator rope

The goal of this research is to operate an elevator while controlling the vibration of its rope during relatively weak earthquakes. When the elevator ascends or descents, the rope length changes. This may result in excitation of higher-order vibrations. Changes in rope length can also make time-invariant control inefficient or unstable. In this paper, a method is proposed that can suppress the effects of higher-order vibrations and efficiently control when the elevator “stops”. The method uses a weight function that adapts to the rope response level for each rope length. To evaluate performance, the proposed method was used to simulate vibration control of the compensating rope on the car side, and this confirmed that the time-varying weight function effectively suppresses vibration for each rope length.
