Luminescence and upconversion properties of Pr3+-doped CsSrF3 fluoroperovskite

Praseodymium-doped compounds exhibiting visible-to-UVC upconversion are currently being extensively researched for potential applications in disinfection and sterilization. This study, for the first time, investigates the luminescence and upconversion properties of CsSrF 3 :Pr 3+ . Crystallites activated with varying concentrations of Pr 3+ were synthesized using the solid-state method. Under direct 3 P 2 excitation, upconversion emission was observed in the UVC region (230–310 nm), along with visible emission spanning 465–750 nm. The influence of Pr 3+ doping concentration on the phosphor's characteristics was systematically analyzed. To elucidate the mechanism responsible for upconversion in CsSrF 3 :Pr 3+ crystallites, the dependence of emission intensity on laser pump power and the upconversion lifetime under pulsed laser excitation were measured. • CsSrF 3 :Pr 3+ crystallites were synthesized using the solid-state method. • The luminescence properties in visible range were investigated. • Upconversion emission from 230 to 310 nm under 444 nm excitation is observed. • ESA mechanism proposed for upconversion in CsSrF 3 :Pr 3+ .
