Analysis Of Wood Plastic Composites Between Sea Sengon Wood And Hdpe Plastic For Tensile Tests And Micro Structure Tests

Abstract The aim of this study was to use a microstructure test to measure the tensile strength of the sea sengon sawdust combination and the effect of the amount of HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) plastic. The primary research materials are M.A., Xylene, powdered sea sengon wood, and HDPE plastic. A plastic injection machine and a hot plate stirrer are used to create composites. Microstructure testing and tensile tests performed in accordance with ASTM D-638 Type II standard were conducted. The study’s findings show the tensile strength of HDPE at 60%, the initial percentage of the combination, with an elastic modulus value of 13,52 N/m 2 , an average stress value of 7.86 N/m 2 , and an average strain value of 0.42%. The next mixture is HDPE 65% mixture, which has an elastic modulus value of 10.28 N/m 2 , an average stress value of 8.99 N/m 2 , and an average strain value of 0.98%. The third mixture is HDPE 70%, which has an average modulus of elasticity of 11.08 N/m 2 , an average stress value of 11.84 N/m 2 , and an average strain value of 1.31%. The fourth mixture is HDPE 80%, which has an 8.51 modulus of elasticity, an average stress value of 14.57 N/m 2 , and an average strain value of 1.93%. This fourth mixed specimen is the best specimen and has the highest tensile strength of the preceding specimen, as evidenced by the microstructure test conducted on specimen mixture 4, which is 80% HDPE. HDPE plastic predominates in majority of the specimens.
