Utilization of a Copper Heatsink as an Air Condenser in an Atmospheric Water Generator based on a Thermoelectric Cooler

Abstract Clean water is essential for normal human activities. Research is needed to explore sources for obtaining clean and healthy water on both small and large scales. This study represents an effort to produce clean water by utilizing atmospheric air. The method employed involved creating a prototype device capable of condensing atmospheric air in a laboratory environment. This condensation process utilizes thermoelectric technology based on the Peltier effect, specifically through a Thermoelectric Cooler (TEC). In this study, the cold side of the TEC module was equipped with a copper heatsink cooling system, while the hot side featured a heatsink-pipe-fan cooling system. Testing results showed that, under laboratory conditions, the prototype device could produce 2 milliliters per hour of clean water with an efficiency of 3.873% at a relative humidity of approximately 69.153%. These findings indicate that the TEC module has significant potential for producing clean water.
