Akutt nekrotiserende gingivitt på immunsupprimert MS-pasient

English summary Acute necrotizing gingivitis in an immunosuppressed MS-patient Nor Tannlegeforen Tid. 2025; 135: 198-201. Acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis (ANUG) is a well-known but very rare local opportunistic infection of the oral cavity that often manifests as a symptom of an underlying serious condition. This case describes the course of treatment for a 32-year-old woman with multiple sclerosis who received six-monthly infusions of the immunosuppressive drug rituximab. Approximately six months after the previous infusion, she developed an acute drop in white blood cell count resulting in ANUG and severe local pain. She was treated with broad-spectrum antibiotics and colony-stimulating factor until the blood values normalized. Local oral care was also important for the healing of intraoral lesions.
