A Study on the Development of Immersive Media Content for Four-Sided Theme Parks Using XR Technology: Focusing on ‘Midnight Carnival'

We developed ‘Midnight Carnival,’ an immersive media content utilizing XR technology. The system was designed using interactive projection mapping to enable multi-user engagement without the need for HMDs, thus overcoming physical constraints commonly associated with VR experiences. A user study involving 96 participants was conducted. Participants evaluated the content's immersion, interaction, realism, enjoyment, and creativity. The results demonstrated high levels of user immersion, intuitive interaction, and positive emotional engagement, indicating the effectiveness of the content design. These findings suggest that this XR content has the potential to serve as an accessible and innovative alternative to traditional offline theme parks, offering immersive experiences with greater convenience.
