Electromagnetic transient modelling methods of the battery energy storage station for the power grid
With the growing global demands for energy, countries are increasingly developing renewable energy . However, the instability of renewable energy output poses serious challenges to the safe and reliable operation of power grid, severely limiting the utilization of large-scale renewable energy. Battery energy storage stations are considered as an effective method to solve above challenges. Therefore, it’s necessary to establish an electromagnetic transient model of the battery energy storage station for the power grid, which can be used for fault analysis under different conditions. This work firstly introduces the basic structure of a typical battery energy storage station. Secondly, the working principle and control strategy of each component are discussed in detail. Then, the fault characteristics of the battery energy storage station are analysed corresponding to different control strategies and operating mode. Finally, an electromagnetic transient modelling method of the battery energy storage station is proposed. The proposed modelling method can serve as an effective to analyse fault characteristics of battery energy storage stations in different operating mode.
