Optimal control strategy for a microgrid considering battery lifetime extension and stochastic electricity price
Microgrids (MGs) that include battery energy storage devices (BES) can encourage the utilization of renewable energy. In this paper, we investigate a microgrid (MG) whose power supply is primarily derived from photovoltaic (PV) output, and which includes of a BES, loads, an energy router (ER), and controllable generators, i.e., micro-turbines (MTs). The ER is the connector between the considered microgrid and the main grid, and we assume that such MG is allowed to sell excess electricity to the grid through ER with a stochastic time-varying electricity price. The goal of this work is to offer an ideal control method for MTs and the ER that will significantly increase the battery's service life while maximizing MG's sales revenue. Firstly, the MG's power dynamics are described as a set of stochastic differential equations (SDEs). Next, the goal of extending the lifetime of BES and boosting income is phrased as an optimum control problem, which is tackled using a dynamical programming method with the BOCOPHJB toolkit. Ultimately, simulations are implemented to illustrate the suggested method's viability.
