Primary frequency control strategy for grid-forming permanent magnet direct-drive wind turbines with energy storage configured on the DC side
Wind power generation in new energy power plants has intermittency and randomness. With the increase of wind power penetration rate, the primary regulation of grid frequency by wind turbines has received increasing attention. A primary frequenc y regulation control strategy based on the configuration of energy storage on the DC side of grid type direct drive wind turbines is proposed to address the problem of poor primary frequency regulation capability of grid type wind turbines during grid frequency faults. Firstly, a virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control strategy is adopted in the grid side converter, which can provide power support at the moment of grid frequency changes; Secondly, by configuring an energy storage system on the DC side, when the grid frequency drops, the DC side voltage quickly stabilizes to the reference value, and the machine side converter operates stably in maximum power tracking mode. The grid side converter can increase power, enabling the wind turbine to have the ability of primary frequency regulation; Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed solution was verified through simulation of a single machine system and a four machine two area system built on the MATLAB/Simulink platform.
